Franklin School was established in 1869. The building was designed like the German rounded arch style building. There is a bust of Benjamin Franklin which embellishes the façade of the building.

 

Alexander's assistant succeeded in transmitting a wireless voice telephone message to a significant distance of around 700 ft (213 meters). This occurred on June 21, 1880, 19 years prior to the first voice radio broadcast. The voice message was transferred from the roof of the Franklin School to the window of Bell’s laboratory.
