The Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye is a royal palace about 19 km west of Paris. For many centuries, it had been the residence of numerous French monarchs, including Louis XIV who was born in the Chateau Neuf (mostly demolished part of the castle). Today, the Château houses the National Museum of Archaeology.
